FUE

The FUE technique is the most recent method and offers numerous advantages.

The hair is shaved over a large area at the crown, which is then anesthetized.

The micrografts are then extracted directly using a small motorized tool that drills a hole in the skin around each micrograft. This hole has a diameter of 0.6 to 0.8 mm.

The follicular units (FUs) are then extracted one by one and classified as 1-, 2-, or 3-hair FUs.

At the end of the extraction (once all the necessary follicular units have been extracted), the scalp is dotted with small holes that heal on their own the next day without leaving any visible marks.

The follicular units are therefore immediately ready for transplantation.

The reimplantation technique is the same as with FUT:

The recipient area is then anesthetized locally and prepared by making numerous micro-incisions to precisely determine where the grafts will be reimplanted.

The grafts are then implanted one by one into the micro-incisions.

Advantages of the FUE technique :

No stitches, no scar (unlike the FUT technique)

Less pain, less swelling

Shorter recovery time

Inconvenients

Shaving the donor area (at the back) is essential; the recipient area does not need to be shaved.
