PEELING VISAGE

The Different Peels Offered at the Clinic

A peel is a cosmetic medical treatment that involves applying an active substance to the skin to induce controlled exfoliation and stimulate skin renewal.

Depending on the type of peel used, as well as its intensity and concentration, the treatment can affect different layers of the skin. Peels can help improve the radiance of the complexion, skin texture, certain imperfections, pigmentation spots, signs of skin aging, and more.

A skin assessment and a preliminary consultation will help determine the peel best suited to your needs.

1. Fruit Acid Peel (AHA)

What is it?

A fruit acid peel, also known as an AHA peel, is a superficial, gradual peel.

Glycolic acid helps remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface and stimulates its natural renewal.

Who is it for?

This peel may be recommended for people with:

  • a dull or tired complexion;
  • skin lacking radiance;
  • an uneven skin texture;
  • visible pores;
  • mild blemishes;
  • certain superficial spots;
  • the first signs of skin aging.

It is particularly suitable for people who wish to gradually improve their skin’s quality with little or no downtime.

The skin appears fresher, more radiant, and smoother. Results are gradual and depend on the skin’s initial condition as well as the percentage of acid used.

What happens during a session?

After cleansing and preparing the skin, the peel solution is applied for a duration tailored to the skin type and the intended treatment. The product is then neutralized.

You may feel a tingling or warming sensation during application.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of sessions varies depending on the condition being treated and the desired outcome. A course of several sessions, spaced one month apart, is recommended to achieve optimal results.

2. Retinol Peel

What is it?

A retinol peel is a treatment that uses a derivative of vitamin A. Retinol promotes cell renewal and helps gradually improve the skin’s quality, texture, and appearance.

Its effects are more intense than those of a simple superficial peel.

Who is it for?

A retinol peel may be recommended in cases of:

  • dull skin;
  • uneven texture;
  • visible pores;
  • skin imperfections and acne-prone skin;
  • superficial marks or irregularities;
  • pigment spots;
  • wrinkles and fine lines;
  • loss of radiance and early signs of skin aging.

A preliminary consultation helps determine whether this treatment is suitable for your skin and any other treatments you may be undergoing.

The skin may appear smoother, more even, and more radiant, and a gradual improvement in skin texture and quality may be observed.

A period of dryness and flaking may occur in the days following the treatment.

How does a session work?

The skin is cleansed and prepared before the product is applied. The product is then left on the skin to take effect for 10 hours.

How many sessions are needed?

A single session can be performed on an as-needed basis, or a course of several sessions spaced one month apart can be scheduled.

After the treatment

Redness, dryness, a tight feeling, and peeling may occur.

It is very important not to pick at the peeling skin and to thoroughly moisturize your face with the products recommended by the practitioner.

3. TCA Peel

What is TCA?

TCA, or trichloroacetic acid, is a peeling agent used in aesthetic medicine to treat skin imperfections and stimulate skin renewal.

The TCA peel works even more deeply than the two superficial peels mentioned above. It is a medical procedure.

Who is it for?

A TCA peel may be considered, in particular, for:

  • more pronounced wrinkles and fine lines;
  • pigment spots;
  • photoaging;
  • uneven skin texture;
  • superficial scars, particularly post-acne scars;
  • an uneven complexion;
  • skin showing a loss of quality, radiance, or slight sagging.

This treatment is not suitable for all skin types or situations. A prior medical evaluation is essential.

A TCA peel causes controlled exfoliation of the skin and stimulates the skin’s renewal process.

How does it work?

After application, TCA acts on the targeted layers of the skin.

The treatment triggers a skin renewal process. In the days that follow, the skin may appear red, temporarily darker in color, and may experience varying degrees of peeling. New skin gradually forms during the repair and renewal process.

How many sessions are needed?

Depending on your needs, a single session may sometimes be sufficient, or several sessions may be scheduled. Treatments are spaced out to give the skin time to recover.

A personalized treatment plan will be recommended after your skin is evaluated.

After the treatment: important instructions

After a TCA peel, it is essential to follow the post-treatment recommendations.

In particular, it is recommended that you:

  • follow your practitioner’s instructions precisely;
  • moisturize and protect your skin with the recommended products;
  • do not scratch or pick at scabs or flaking skin;
  • avoid direct sun exposure during the recommended period;
  • apply a high-SPF sunscreen diligently;
  • avoid exfoliating products, irritants, or products containing non-recommended active ingredients during the recovery phase;
  • avoid significant sources of heat as recommended.

Redness, a tightening sensation, temporary skin discoloration, and peeling may be part of the normal post-treatment effects.

Which peel should you choose?

During your consultation, your skin will be evaluated so that we can recommend the treatment best suited to your needs and explain the expected benefits, post-treatment effects, and any precautions you should take.

Each treatment is personalized and performed after an assessment of your situation and your skin.
