The benefits of orthodontic treatment include a healthy mouth, a more attractive face and teeth, and teeth that are likely to last a lifetime

How do I know if I need orthodontic treatment?

Only your orthodontist can tell if you need orthodontic treatment. The treatment plan will be based on a diagnosis, based on your medical and dental and dental history, a clinical exam, dental impressions, X-rays and photographs.

If you have any of the following conditions, you may need orthodontic treatment:

  • Overbite – when the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth too much
  • Overshot – when the lower teeth are in front of the upper teeth.
  • Cross dentition – when the upper teeth do not overlap the lower teeth.
  • Malocclusion – when there is no contact between the teeth when closing.
  • Midline mismatch – when the center of the upper jaw does not match the center of the lower jaw.
  • Diastema – spaces that naturally exist between teeth or are caused by extractions.
  • Crowding – when there is not enough space for all the teeth and the teeth start to overlap.
